Cold Laser Therapy (Low-Level Laser)
Precisely targeted light energy that stimulates your cells to heal — with no heat, no discomfort, and no downtime. Ideal for sensitive areas, superficial tissues, and patients who want the gentlest option available.
What Is Cold Laser Therapy?
Cold laser therapy — also called low-level laser therapy (LLLT) or photobiomodulation — uses specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light to stimulate cellular activity. The light is absorbed by structures inside your cells, supporting increased cellular energy production, improved local circulation, and a calmer inflammatory response.
It's called "cold" laser because these low-level lasers operate at low power: you feel no heat and no sensation at all during treatment. The laser simply rests on or hovers over the skin for a few minutes per treatment area.
Cold Laser vs. Class IV Laser: Which Is Right for You?
We offer both — and they serve different purposes.
Cold Laser (this page)
Low power, no heat sensation. Best for superficial tissues, feet and hands, sensitive patients, and areas where gentle dosing is preferred.
Higher power for deeper penetration into large muscle groups, joints, and the spine. Patients feel a gentle warmth.
Dr. Faulkenberry is laser certified and will recommend the right laser — or combination — for your condition at your consultation.
What Cold Laser Therapy Is Used For
What a Session Is Like
Sessions are short — often 5 to 15 minutes per area — and completely painless. There's nothing to feel, no recovery period, and you can return to normal activity immediately. Cold laser is typically delivered as a series of treatments, and it stacks well with chiropractic care, decompression, and our other therapies.
